Palestine, Texas

Palestine is the seat of Anderson County, sitting in the country between the Trinity and the Neches rivers. It grew as a railroad town and it is still a rail hub, and the ground around it changes character depending on which direction you drive out of town.

Elkhart, Texas

Elkhart is a small community in southern Anderson County, strung along US 287 between Palestine and the Houston County line. Most of the homes here sit on rural land rather than in a dense townsite, which changes what leveling work looks like.

Frankston, Texas

Frankston sits in the north of Anderson County, close enough to Lake Palestine that lake and recreational property is a defining part of the local housing picture. Waterfront and near water siting brings support issues that inland lots do not have.

Grapeland, Texas

Grapeland is a small Houston County town on the highway south of Palestine, surrounded by timber, pasture and scattered rural homesteads. It is a country town in the true sense, and nearly all of the manufactured home work around it is out on the land.

Crockett, Texas

Crockett is the Houston County seat and one of the oldest towns in Texas, founded in the era of the Republic. It carries a long history, a historic downtown square, and a housing stock that spans from antebellum era properties to modern manufactured homes on rural tracts.

Jacksonville, Texas

Jacksonville is the largest commercial town in Cherokee County, historically known for tomato growing and for basket manufacturing that supported the produce trade. It is a busier, more developed market than the small towns around it, and its sandy ground is the reason for both the tomatoes and the pier problems.

Rusk, Texas

Rusk is the seat of Cherokee County and sits at the eastern end of the Texas State Railroad, the line that connects it to Palestine through a stretch of East Texas timber. It is a county seat town with a large rural surround and a lot of manufactured housing on wooded acreage.
